Our application procedures

Breda University of Applied Sciences has various application procedures. 

How to apply for a bachelor's programme at BUas

Have you decided to study at BUas? Depending on your programme, you either follow the direct admission route (with a Study Choice Check) or the selection route (for programmes with limited capacity). Check below to confirm which route applies. Applying is free of charge. We will check whether or not you can be admitted to the programme. 

Apply for a bachelor's programme in 4 steps

Step 1: Apply via Studielink

All students start their application in Studielink, the Dutch national registration system.

•    Choose Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas)
•    Select your bachelor's programme
•    Submit your personal details before the deadline

Please submit an application before the deadline. Tip: the earlier you apply, the sooner you'll have clarity and time to prepare. The deadlines are:

For direct admission programmes:

  • EU/EEA students: 31 August (subject to capacity)
  • Non-EU/EAA students: 1 May (strict)

For selection programmes:

  • EU/EEA students: 1 May (strict)
  • Non-EU/EAA students: 1 May (strict)
     
Step 2: Complete your application in My Online Application 

After registering in Studielink, you will receive an email from BUas with instructions to log into My Online Application (MOA).

  • Upload required documents (passport, diploma, transcript, English certificate)
  • Fill in your motivation and upload additional documents (if required)
  • Keep an eye on your email for updates
     
Step 3: Direct admission route or Selection route

Depending on your programme, you either follow the direct admission route (with a Study Choice Check) or the selection route (for programmes with limited capacity). Check below to confirm which route applies. This is important, because in step 4 you participate in a Study Choice Check or selection procedure, depending on your programme.

Step 4 for direct admission programmes: Study Choice Check

If your programme has direct admission (check step 3), you must complete the Study Choice Check. Depending on the programme you can expect the following:

  • You’ll watch the BUas story of the programme and answer a few questions. This step is mandatory and helps us understand your motivation and expectations.
  • Join an online Meet & Greet session with a BUas lecturer and a group of other prospective students.
     
Step 4 for selection programmes: Selection procedure

Some bachelor programmes have a selection procedure (check step 3) because of limited capacity.

  • Submit all required documents before 1 May
  • You may be invited for an interview, portfolio review and/ or assessment

Step 5: Admission decision and enrolment

Once BUas reviews your application, you’ll receive a notification:

  • Admitted → Complete your enrolment (upload missing docs, pay tuition, arrange visa)
  • Conditionally admitted → Provide missing items before 31 August
  • Not admitted → You will be informed of the reason

Apply for a master's programme in 4 steps

Step 3: Admission interview

All master's programmes at BUas include an admission interview. Meeting the entry requirements is essential to qualify for the programme, but admission is confirmed after a successful interview with the programme team. The interview allows us to assess your motivation, relevant experience, and fit with the programme.

Interview format: Online or on-campus (30-45 minutes) 

Topics: Your background, motivation, experience, and career goals

Tip: Some programmes offer early interview rounds. 

Step 4: Admission decision and enrolment
