International students
If you meet the admission requirements and you complete step 1 by 1 May at the latest, you will certainly be able to start your studies; if you apply via Studielink after 1 May, Breda University of Applied Sciences will decide whether or not you will be admitted to the study programme.
For our non-EU applicants; please note that 1 May is a strict deadline. Applications after this date will not be taken into consideration.
Application steps:
- Step 1: Submit your application via Studielink
You are required to apply via Studielink, the platform for enrolment in higher education in the Netherlands.
You will need:
- Your DigiD or Studielink username and password
- Your personal details (as shown on your passport or ID)
- Programme: Bachelor of Science Leisure Studies (BUas, bachelor's)
After submitting your application:
- You can track your status in Studielink and in My Online Application
- BUas will email you about the next steps – check your spam folder too
- Step 2: Apply via My Online Application
Step 2: Apply via My Online Application
After submitting your application in Studielink, you will receive an email inviting you to complete your application in My Online Application.
In My Online Application, you will be asked to answer additional questions (e.g., about your English proficiency) and upload the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae (resume)
- ID / passport
- Secondary school diploma including list of grades and translation (if these documents are not in one of the following languages: English, French, German or Dutch).
- If you have not graduated yet: please upload your most recent list of grades and translation (if these documents are not in: English, French, German or Dutch)
Tip: Try to submit everything within three weeks of applying – and definitely before the deadline. It will take about 30 minutes.
You can track your application status in My Online Application.
- Step 3 – Upload your motivation letter
In My Online Application, the next step is to upload your motivation letter. In this letter, explain why you want to study this programme and what motivates you.
- Step 4 - Answer the questions
After uploading your motivation letter, you will answer a number of questions. These questions help you (and us) check whether this programme is a good fit for you.
The questions are about:
- Whether you are curious about the world and enjoy finding answers yourself.
- How comfortable you are with mathematics and statistics.
- Your preferred study style.
- How confident you feel about studying in English.
- Whether you have taken part in BUas activities before.
We will also ask what you would most like to learn in this programme, for example:
- Understanding how people behave and why they make certain leisure choices.
- Designing leisure activities that make a difference.
- Developing strategic plans for leisure businesses.
- Helping (local) governments create leisure policies.
- Organising events or other leisure activities.
Tip: These questions are designed to help you think about your study choice. Answer them honestly and as fully as you can.
- Step 5: Complete your enrolment: tuition fee payment
In order to complete your enrolment, you need to either confirm your digital authorisation or pay your tuition fee. You can find more information about the payment of the tuition fee here. This will be possible from May onwards. You will receive an e-mail requesting that you enter your payment details via your ‘To do’ list in Studielink.
