You have decided to start studying in Breda, now you will need a place to live. Below you can find some tips for finding accommodation in Breda or surroundings. Also check the housing manual for more information and tips.
Finding a place to stay
Breda University of Applied Sciences has a growing number of students and therefore accommodation in Breda is scarce and challenging to find. There are several ways to find accommodation in Breda. This video supports you with some tips for finding a place to stay.
Unfortunately, Breda University of Applied Sciences has no campus or student rooms of its own and, therefore, it will be your own responsibility to find accommodation in Breda. Rental prices for a student room in Breda vary from €500 to €800+ per month.
Finding Accommodation
To boost your chances of finding accommodation in Breda, it is crucial to start your search as early as possible. Housing can be competitive, and spots fill up fast. Most students find their rooms through Facebook groups, Klikvoorkamers (Click for Rooms) or with a local commercial company. Don’t wait—check the housing manual and begin your search immediately to avoid missing out on available options!
Non-EU students
BUas has an arrangement with housing corporations Alwel and WonenBreburg that 71 rooms will be available for non-EU Breda University of Applied Sciences students (living outside the EU) in the academic year 2026-2027 and 34 rooms for non-EU exchange students. These rooms are furnished and have fixed contract dates. Once you have been accepted for a study program at Breda University of Applied Sciences, you will be provided with personal login in the first week of July for the website where you can book these rooms.
Please note the following
There are more students than rooms available and the rooms will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
The contract dates of the rooms cannot be changed and the contract will end after the period of your stay, which is one semester or one year. Extension will not be possible.
The rooms are available for students up to 27 years old.
The apartments are mixed-gender.
Further information
Rooms in the Netherlands are mostly single rooms, with several rooms in one house shared by a group of students or young people. You share spaces like the living room (if available), the kitchen and the bathroom. Most rooms that are offered are not furnished (no fixtures, curtains, carpets, etc.). Please keep this in mind when you rent a room. If you have any questions left, please send a mail to [email protected].
Housing Buddy
BUas would like to help international students find accommodation in Breda and its surroundings. Therefore, we have a housing buddy for the summer months, starting in June, to help you if needed. The housing buddy can attend viewings for you if you are not in the Netherlands and the landlord requires this. Furthermore, we could double-check your contract or assist you if you have any doubts about an offer, and you think it is a scam.
The housing buddy will try to match you with a renter/room/landlord and search for new offers in the meantime. It is important to keep in mind that you are responsible yourself to act upon responding to offers. Please note that this is not a buddy programme but that there is someone available for all your questions and doubts.
If you have any questions or need advice, please feel free to contact the housing buddy via [email protected], 076 533 2203 and ask for the housing buddy.
