Pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing (SBM)
Our academic Pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing (SBM) grants direct access to the Master of Science programmes in business related programmes at our academic partners and to our own Master of Science Leisure and Tourism Studies.
After your master
The pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing (SBM) leads to an award and a degree title. In addition to the regular professional bachelor diploma of Breda University of Applied Sciences, you receive a certificate granting direct access to several business-related Master of Science programmes (pdf) at a number of scientific universities.
The academic Pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing trains you for entrepreneurship in the European market, but also in doing scientific research in the sector of your choice, for example the tourism and leisure industry, the sports and cultural sector, the hospitality and facility industry, the media and creative industries, public-sector involved in destination development or the traffic, mobility, transport or logistics sector.
You are requested to find a company to do your scientific research for within a sector of your own choice and within a country of your own choice. Breda University of Applied Sciences has a strong international network, so we can help you in finding a suitable place.
This programme covers 12 months and is made up of two main phases:

- Socio-psychological Analysis of Consumer Behaviour (3 ECTS)

- Research Practical and academic skills (6 ECTS)
Variety of teaching methods
The theoretical courses provide you with ‘just in time’ knowledge, which is necessary to make your research a success. For instance, the course Operations, Human Resource Management, Quality and Financial Management present input to carry out an internal audit and tools to work on your management skills.
The course Socio-psychological Analysis of Consumer Behaviour and the applications for the marketing- and promotion strategy will turn you into a creative entrepreneur.
The course International Strategic Marketing, Marketing Communications, CRM and E-commerce offer you tools to secure a strong position in the market for your company and product.
- Phase 2 Final Research Project (33 ECTS)
Fieldwork in a sector of your choice and in a country of your choice. Examples of sectors are: the tourism and leisure industry, the sports and cultural sector, the hospitality and facility industry, the media and creative industries, public-sector involved in destination development or the traffic, mobility, transport or logistics sector. Research practical and individual professional coaching by academic staff Support in academic skills.
The Final Research Project is the core of this international business pre-master’s programme. To reach master’s level, we assure that the level of the research project is sufficiently academically challenging. Of course, you will receive a great deal of support in order to achieve this level.
The academic Pre-master Strategic Business Management and Marketing is a one-year, full-time programme. The total study load is 75 ECTS. To give you an idea: 1 ECTS = approximately 28 hours a week. This one-year pre-master replaces the last year of study at Breda University of Applied Sciences.
We offer you a small-scale study environment as the number of students involved in this pre-master are limited. For questions on the content of the programme, lecturers can be easily reached. Besides, the Programme Coordinator is available to help with day-to-day issues. If you wish to discuss personal problems that may be affecting your life as a student, you can turn to the student counsellor.
We werken aan een nieuwe campus in Breda, waar vanaf september 2019 al onze opleidingen samenkomen. Het idee is dat een campusomgeving uitnodigt elkaar te ontmoeten. Dat biedt dus nog meer mogelijkheden elkaar te inspireren en kennis uit te wisselen.
