LCB expands: second location in Roosendaal
Logistics Community Brabant (LCB) is opening a second location in Roosendaal. In addition to its location in Breda, LCB will now also be active in West-Brabant. The partnership agreement was signed on 2 February during State Secretary Thierry Aartsen’s visit to Roosendaal.

New location in Roosendaal strengthens logistics cluster West-Brabant
Due to its provincial remit, LCB is constantly looking for new parties with which it can jointly apply innovations and improvements to logistics issues. The municipality of Roosendaal received a development incentive of 45 million euros from the national government and was looking for a partner to collaborate on municipal challenges surrounding the development of its city centre, railway zone, and mobility issues. ‘Bringing LCB and the municipality of Roosendaal together creates a win-win situation for both parties,’ said city councillor Robin Heij.
New partner in existing network
The municipality of Roosendaal thus becomes a new partner in the existing LCB network, which already includes the province of Noord-Brabant, the municipality of Breda, Breda University of Applied Sciences, and Eindhoven University of Technology. Together, they connect education, government and business around current issues and societal challenges in Noord-Brabant. The new location in Roosendaal will provide an extra boost for West-Brabant in particular.
Students get to work
At the new location in the railway zone, students and lecturers will work on specific tasks and challenges for the city of Roosendaal – from area development and accessibility to logistical innovation and sustainability. By linking knowledge and practice, we not only deliver quality in projects, but also invest in talent development and a strong innovation cluster in the region.
‘Students will soon be right in the middle of the area where major spatial interventions will take place in the coming years. You will literally be studying where it all happens,’ said city councillor Klaar Koenraad.
Logistics is more than just lorries
This collaboration clearly shows that logistics goes beyond the transport of freight.
‘We see logistics as everything that moves – not just goods, but also people. Based on this broad definition, we can contribute to the issues facing the municipality of Roosendaal in the areas of construction logistics, traffic flows, urban logistics, and quality of life,’ said LCB director Daan Quaars.
The research and project agenda that LCB will define together with the municipality will result in assignments for students from various programmes and levels. This will lead to valuable cross-pollination and allow students to build on previous research, ultimately bringing even more knowledge to the region.
