PANEURAMA

By fostering a strong network of educational and industry partners, PANEURAMA aims to enhance graduate readiness for future careers, while boosting resilience in the European creative visual sectors.

What was the goal of this research?

To identify and reduce mismatches between the skills and training offered by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)/ Vocational Education and Training (VETs) and the real-world demands of the animation, games, and VFX industries. The project aims to help reshape education, support lifelong learning, and strengthen Europe’s creative visual industries through innovation, collaboration, and practical training solutions.

What method was employed?

PANEURAMA employs a collaborative approach, combining continuous industry-relevant research, the development of new teaching guidelines, training activities, summer schools, and online programmes. It includes open dialogue between education and industry partners, panel discussions, and conferences to maintain alignment between curricula and emerging sector demands. Focus areas include technology integration (e.g., AI, real-time production, XR), labour market trends, soft skills, and entrepreneurship.

What findings did we uncover?

While detailed outcomes are still forthcoming, the project has already identified:

  • A challenging and complex skills gap between education and industry
  • Increasing demand for training in areas like AI, virtual production, and real-time technology
  • Workplace challenges such as staff retention, burnout, and managing hybrid workforces
  • The need for better integration of technological, artistic, and storytelling skills in education
  • A shift toward faster production cycles requiring upskilled talent and adaptive workflows.

What is the timeline of this project?

September 2023 - September 2026
