Lecturer/Researcher in Media Content Creation

As a lecturer/researcher (0.6-0.8 FTE) at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), you have a genuine passion for media, concept development, storytelling and media production – and a drive to bring that expertise to life in the classroom. In this role, you will teach within the Creative Business programme, helping to shape the next generation of concept creators who are ready to create meaningful experiences in this dynamic industry.

About this job

As a lecturer/researcher (0.6 – 0.8FTE) at the Academy for AI, Games& Media (AGM), you will have the opportunity to guide and support our students as they develop into young professionals in the Creative Business industry. You will teach, guide and supervise students while contributing to the development and delivery of education that aligns with the rapidly changing world of media and entertainment.

You will teach students about the development of original media concepts: from film and television formats to digital content, branded media and transmedia storytelling. Think of topics such as concept development, narrative structure, format development, creative pitching, audience strategy, media psychology, and the process of taking a creative idea from initial concept through to a market-ready media product.

You will work together with other lecturers and support staff within a close-knit, informal community. Your responsibilities include supervising students during their placements and contributing to the development of educational materials. You will also draw on your industry knowledge and professional network to enrich the curriculum – arranging guest lectures, practical assignments and placement opportunities. As part of the team, you will guide students in translating their academic experiences into a clear and meaningful career path within the creative industries. Additionally, you will act as a work placement supervisor, visiting creative business industry contacts and current students currently on placement.

In our educational vision, collaborative learning takes centre stage. Rather than traditional lectures, we prioritise continuous interaction with students, working on a wide range of challenges in small-scale learning communities. You will play a key role in connecting these challenges, students, industry and professional practice, to create meaningful learning experiences. You will not need to have all the answers – your role is to guide students in finding them for themselves. At Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), we operate on the principle of team-based working, where responsibilities and authority are assigned to teams within the academy. This approach leaves plenty of room for your own input, enabling you to help shape the future of education. And with every cohort, you will find yourself learning something new as well.

You will start this position at the beginning of the new academic year (17 August 2026).

What do we offer?
