As a Banqueting and Catering Assistant (0.3–1 FTE) at Sibelicious – our in-house training company  at the Academy for Hotel & Facility Management (AHF) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) – you will support the daily operations of our training catering outlet. About this job

You will work as a Banqueting and Catering Assistant (0.3–1 FTE) at the Academy for Hotel & Facility Management (AHF) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), supporting the daily catering operations of the community. Your role encompasses working across various food stations, managing inventory, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring that our training environment runs efficiently and professionally.

Through our in-house training company Sibelicious, we provide real-world learning experiences to prepare the next generation of hospitality professionals – offering an authentic environment in which culinary and service skills are developed under professional guidance. As part of the team, you will work alongside students and operate the various outlets serving the university community, such as the visitor centre, food courts, kitchen, and restaurant. You will lead by example, demonstrating proper techniques and professional standards and supporting students in doing the same.

There are multiple positions to fill (maximum of 2 FTEs).

What do we offer?

  • The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €2,621.14 and a monthly maximum of €3,377.16 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);  
  • This position is classified in scale 3 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be B&C assistant;
  • This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of conversion into an indefinite employment contract;
  • Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport; 
  • You will receive a contribution towards your health insurance costs;
  • You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and an annual holiday allowance of 8% in May; 
  • You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost 11 weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position; 
  • You will build an attractive pension through the ABP pension fund;

What do we ask of you?

  • You have at least a completed MBO 3 education level in hospitality, cooking, or catering;  
  • You have previous experience in catering, banqueting, food service, or hospitality;  
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards is preferred;  
  • You are enthusiastic, empathetic and practical, willing to perform different operational tasks;  
  • You have good communication skills, are flexible and are able to work collaboratively with students, instructors and colleagues;  
  • You are flexible and comfortable working in other outlets or during evening hours when required;  
  • You will be working in an international and intercultural environment. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (B2) and Dutch (B1) is a necessity. You are familiar with  professional  English terminology in the field of hospitality in general, and banqueting and catering in particular.
