BUas is more than a university of applied sciences. We empower young professionals on their journey to shape a better world – a world that is constantly changing, and as a result, our education evolves to keep pace!
On our way to BUas+
Our ambition is to give our students something extra.
After all, preparing students really well for their role in a diverse and dynamic context and in a world that is constantly changing requires more. That’s what we call the ‘plus’. BUas+ goes further. Our students leave BUas with a unique set of skills for life. They will discover their strengths and their personal plus, and how they can be part of solutions by Creating Meaningful Experiences.
Our mission
We empower young professionals on their journey to shape a better world.
The purpose of any institute of higher education is to educate students and prepare them for their role in their chosen profession, their role in research and development within a particular field of study, and their role in society. Ultimately, their success is the measure of our success.
The ease with which our alumni find work is one indicator of success. The same goes for the extent to which they are sought after by the industry because they have a ‘+’ that sets them apart. Another indicator is impact: having a markedly positive influence on the development of a sector or society. The ambition to have an impact - to shape a better world - is representative of the generation that is studying with us today and tomorrow. Our partners also ask us to deliver young professionals with the knowledge, mentality and skills to make that impact.
At BUas, we pursue this mission by combining education and research within the various fields in which we operate, but also beyond. Our students, industry partners, lecturers and researchers work together in learning communities on practical issues and solutions for business and society.
Our vision
We deliver young professionals to industries that operate in a world that is rapidly and constantly changing.
As our global population is growing, living longer, becoming more prosperous and increasingly urbanised, we need to find new ways to stay healthy, consume less energy and fewer resources, protect the environment, and cope with the threat of pandemics and increasing geopolitical instability.
Technology promises solutions to many issues, but it also brings new practical, ethical and legal challenges. Automation, digitisation and artificial intelligence will transform entire sectors, reshape the nature of work, and redefine the individual's relationship with society.
Not surprisingly, both industry and society at large expect higher education and research institutes to deliver professionals who can help and guide them through these transitions.
Meanwhile, education itself is also changing. Here too, technological advances are transforming the way education is delivered and received. Innovations in educational technology, or ‘EdTech’, are changing our classrooms as well as the way lecturers and students engage and interact.
