Lecturer/researcher in Leisure & Events Management

Can you never stop talking about your work in the events industry? If so, why not share your passion with young professionals and apply as a lecturer/researcher (0.6–1 FTE) at the Academy for Leisure & Events (ALE) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas)? You will be working for the Live Music & Dance specialisation, using your work experience and network contacts to help our students become professionals in this vibrant industry. There is no better place to do this than at our green, sustainable campus near the city centre of Breda.

About this job

As a lecturer/researcher (0.6-1 FTE) at the Academy for Leisure & Events (ALE), you will have the opportunity to guide and support our students as they develop into young professionals in the leisure and events management field. In this position, you will work specifically for the Live Music & Dance specialisation, one of the unique profiles within our Leisure & Events Management programme (more information on our website). In this specialisation, students learn everything about organising and producing live music and dance events, from festivals and concerts to club nights and dance tours. Topics include event marketing, stage production, concept creation, crowd control, and the business side of the music and dance industry. You will contribute to the development and delivery of education that aligns with the rapidly changing world of live entertainment. You will work together with other lecturers and support staff within a close-knit, informal community. In addition to teaching classes in both Dutch and English, you will supervise students during their placements or graduation projects, and help develop educational materials. Your knowledge and relevant networks within the industry will further strengthen our curriculum.

In our educational vision, collaborative learning takes centre stage. Rather than traditional lectures, we prioritise continuous interaction with students, working on a wide range of challenges in small-scale learning communities. As a lecturer/researcher, you will play a key role in connecting these challenges, students, industry and professional practice, to create meaningful learning experiences. You will not need to have all the answers – your role is to guide students in finding them for themselves. At Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), we operate on the principle of team-based working, where responsibilities and authority are assigned to teams within the academy. This approach leaves plenty of room for your own input, enabling you to help shape the future of education. As a lecturer/researcher, you will also be learning something new every day. Are you ready to create meaningful experiences?

You will start this position in the new academic year (17 August 2026).
