Artificial Intelligence Trainer & Technical Specialist

To be a front-runner in AI, Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) needs to equip all staff with AI knowledge and skills. Several tailor-made courses have been developed, covering AI fundamentals, ethical considerations, and practical applications in education. As an AI Trainer (1 FTE), you will deliver the on-campus workshops and ensure everything is organised smoothly. As an AI Technical Specialist, you will contribute to accessible learning experiences and help shape the future of AI at BUas.

About this job

As a Trainer (1 FTE) & Technical Specialist for the AI programme within Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), you will be responsible for training staff members in understanding, utilising, and implementing AI in teaching, research, and everyday work. In this role, you will deliver training to staff members and provide expert AI knowledge and technical content for our training programmes. You will also serve as a technical advisor for AI experiments across the institute, and act as the linchpin between our AI education initiatives and AI in operations use cases.

You will work in a dynamic environment where you will respond to new AI developments, unexpected technological changes, and emerging opportunities. You will translate complex AI concepts into accessible learning experiences while exploring technical implementations in depth with colleagues across academies and services. Your role includes contributing to projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on applied AI research initiatives, and assisting with documentation (processes, workflows, and project outcomes through tutorials, workshops, or publications). A dynamic role in a rapidly changing educational environment! This position involves a temporary one-year employment contract. Within BUas, there are several opportunities to progress into a more senior position related to AI or training, subject to organisational developments.

What do we offer?

  • The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €3,667.97 and a monthly maximum of €5,154.67 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);  
  • This position is classified in scale 9 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be Instructor;
  • This position involves a temporary employment contract with the prospect of permanent employment subject to organisational developments;
  • Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport; 
  • You will receive a contribution towards your health insurance costs;
  • You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and an annual holiday allowance of 8% in May; 
  • You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost 11 weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position; 
  • You have the option to work partly from home, which can help improve your work-life balance;

What do we ask of you?

  • You have a background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field, as well as strong problem-solving skills and hands-on technical abilities;
  • You have experience and affinity with Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models (LLM), image generators, and similar AI technology;
  • You have teaching experience in higher professional education or are willing to obtain a didactics certificate;
  • You have strong communication skills, including the ability to collaborate across diverse teams, and are able to interact with various stakeholders (with different AI proficiency levels), ensuring smooth and timely dissemination of all relevant information;
  • You will occasionally be requested to work off-site to train partners, which may involve irregular working hours and international travel;
  • Experience in translating complex information into interactive and accessible lecture and workshop content is a plus;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English are necessary to interact with all BUas staff from different academies and services.
