When and where?

CBTS will take place from 24 until 26 June, 2024 in Breda, the Netherlands, at Breda University of Applied Sciences.

CBTS Theme

Our theme for CBTS is Transforming Tourism through more sustainable consumer behaviour.

The tourism, leisure, and hospitality sectors have a critical role to play towards more sustainable development on themes identified in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). There is a need to combat climate change, develop eco-consciousness, create responsible tourism experiences, reduce inequality, and fight poverty, amongst many other challenges. A sound knowledge of consumer behavior in leisure, tourism, and hospitality for achieving the SDGs has become increasingly pressing.

A comprehensive understanding is needed of how could or should sustainability concerns influence consumers’ choices and behaviour related to the leisure, tourism, and hospitality sectors. Broadly speaking what are the psychological factors that may influence consumer choices in the context of sustainability?

Why attend CBTS?

Over the years, CBTS has established itself as small scale event that brings together a number of thought leaders. As Emma Pope from the University of Derby commented about CBTS in 2018: “CBTS provided ample opportunity to network with academics researching consumer behavior in tourism. A combination of inspiring keynote addresses, contextualised research, and industry workshops which focused on exploring the managerial and operational influence of the key thematic areas, made CBTS an invaluable platform for immersing oneself into a broad range of current topics.”
