New transition programme from BUas and JADS accelerates progression to academic master’s in Data Science
Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) and the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) have signed a collaboration agreement to develop an integrated transition programme.

This unique pathway offers outstanding students from the Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence bachelor’s programme at BUas the opportunity to take courses at JADS during their undergraduate studies, as preparation for the master’s programme Data Science in Business and Entrepreneurship.
This integrated transition programme strengthens the progression from a university of applied sciences (hbo) to a research university (wo) for talented students. In their fourth year, selected BUas students will follow a 30 ECTS pre-master’s programme at JADS, which is integrated into their curriculum as a minor. Upon successful completion of both their bachelor’s and the transition programme, students gain direct admission to the associated master’s degree at JADS.
“This collaboration underlines our ambition to offer top-performing students maximum opportunities to further develop within the field of data science,” says Frank Peters, Programme Manager of Applied Data Science & AI at BUas.
Jos van Hillegersberg, Academic Director at JADS, adds: “With this programme, we’re building a bridge between universities of applied sciences and research universities. It aligns perfectly with our mission to nurture data science talent at all levels and prepare them for the challenges of the future.”
The first students will begin the transition programme in September 2025. Selection is based on GPA and motivation.
