Lecturer/researcher in Supply Chain Management

Working as a lecturer/researcher (0.6 FTE) at the Academy for Built Environment & Logistics (ABEL) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) gives you the opportunity to share your knowledge and experience in Supply Chain Management. You will teach, coach and supervise students in both our bachelor’s and master’s programmes, and you will take on coordination tasks for our Supply Chain Management master’s programme. No better place to do all this than at our green, sustainable campus and our specialist, small-scale institute in Breda.

About this job

As a lecturer/researcher (0.6 FTE) in Supply Chain Management at the Academy for Built Environment & Logistics (ABEL), you will teach, coach and supervise students in the master’s in Supply Chain Management, but also in the Logistics Engineering and Logistics Management bachelor’s programmes. A broad knowledge of supply chain management is essential for this role. Depending on your expertise, you may also be asked to teach other topics.

In addition to your teaching activities, you will take on coordination tasks for the master's in Supply Chain Management. These tasks include acting as the central point of contact for students and staff of the programme within BUas, facilitating team meetings, coordinating project management with partner universities of applied sciences, and the opportunity to represent the master’s in the Board of Examiners.

Our education is based on an interaction between theory and practice, which requires a flexible teaching approach. Sometimes, students may need more theoretical lectures; at other times, you provide them with case studies to facilitate learning. As a lecturer/researcher, you will also learn new things every day. Due to the international nature of our European R&D university, most lectures are taught in English. Proficiency in Dutch is preferred for our Dutch bachelor’s programmes. As well as lecturing and coordinating, you will have the opportunity to conduct applied research closely linked to education and society. Conducting research projects in cooperation with industry enables us to maintain a state-of-the-art curriculum and a leading position in education while preserving our strong industry relations. Current topics on our research agenda include sustainable last-mile logistics, resilient supply chains and digital transformation in organisations and supply chains.
