Design your own study pathway
Throughout the entire course of study, you will work closely together with students on real-life industry projects. Within these projects, you can work on your own individual learning pathway. You will discover which role suits you best and you will ready yourself for this role. You will learn how to develop and fine-tune your own role by broadening or deepening your knowledge within your field of interest.
Logistics Game
Serious Gaming is being used at BUas to gain insight into logistic processes. In the first year, you as logistics student get nine weeks to work on this game, called Blokko. Finance, planning, everything you have learned is dealt with in the game, including new techniques such as blockchain. The game is played across the campus by moving Lego blocks from one building to another.
Project Logistics
The execution of a project or event requires organisation and planning to ensure that everything runs smoothly and without incidents. Think of football matches of your favourite club, the 538 Koningsdag event, the relocation of a company to new premises, or a state visit by government leaders. Organisation and planning make the difference between a success or... a fiasco with bad reviews.
Do you enjoy organising and coordinating projects? Are you interested in how complex logistics operations can be planned and executed? Would you like to know how to manage logistics projects from start to finish? Then the Project Logistics track is perfect for you!
You will learn how to plan, coordinate and execute logistics projects. You will also learn about project management, risk management, and how to communicate with various stakeholders. You will also gain insight into the financial aspects of logistics projects.
The track is a mix of theory and practice. In the first year of your studies, you will discover what you are good at and what you enjoy doing during the projects. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in the field of project planning and execution. From the second year onwards, you will work on projects involving, for example, large festivals, complex relocations (such as transporting a wind turbine), and disaster relief. You will also do a placement where you will contribute to the successful execution of a logistics project from start to finish. At the end of your programme, you will complete a graduation project in which you plan and execute a logistics project. You can choose whether you want to complete the entire track or only certain parts of it.
This option is unique in the Netherlands and fits well with today’s challenges in logistics. You will be trained as a project manager ‘for the future’, who can carry out logistics projects in a responsible and efficient manner. This will give you significant added value in the job market and plenty of career opportunities.
