Admission requirements
Are you eligible for Creative Business?
Would you like to apply and do you have a non-Dutch prior education? Please check the admission requirements below to see if you are eligible. Do you have a diploma from a Dutch education institution (diplomas from the ABC- & SSS Islands not included)? See if you meet the admission requirements for Dutch students.
Your level of education
An equivalent of the Dutch diplomas of higher general secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo) is generally required to enrol on a study programme at Breda University of Applied Sciences.
Please, find your level of education in the list of non-Dutch diplomas compared with the Dutch educational system. This list is not complete, if your diploma is not in this list we advise you to apply.
After having received your application, we will inform you if you meet the educational requirements. If there is any doubt, we will have your diploma evaluated by Nuffic (the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education) for advice.
English language requirements
You will also be required to demonstrate sufficient results on one of these tests:
- Cambridge English Qualification: B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency). Minimum score of 169 (overall and speaking)
- IELTS Academic: Minimum score of 6.0 (overall and speaking)
- TOEFL iBT: iBT Minimum score of 80 (overall), 20 (speaking)
- Pearson PTE Academic: Minimum score of 61 (overall and speaking)
- LanguageCert Academic: Minimum score of 65 (overall and speaking)
Please note: All tests must be taken at an official test centre.
- Exemptions from taking the English test
You do not need to submit an English test if:
- You graduated from Dutch havo or vwo or mbo 4
- You hold an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, Career-related Programme Certificate of the IB, US High School diploma, GCE A(S) levels, or European Baccalaureate certificate (English Language 1 or 2)
- Your previous education (completed secondary school or university) was taught in English in a native English-speaking country (Australia, Canada [except Quebec], Ireland, New Zealand, UK, USA)
- You hold a diploma listed by Nuffic with English as one of the exam subjects. Check the list of diplomas (pdf).
When are you eligible for a special track?
3-year track after pre-university education
If you have a pre-university education (vwo) diploma, you are eligible for the 3-year track. In three years, you will obtain a full bachelor's degree. Accelerated, in other words. Read more about what this track entails and how you can apply.
Starting in a higher year
If you have already completed a propaedeutic year at another Dutch Creative Business course (with the same CROHO number 35516), you may submit a higher-year request via Studielink. There is a good chance that you can start in the second year of the course.
Mbo-hbo transfer track
Are you almost finished with a higher general secondary education (havo) but in doubt about a direct transfer to BUas? Then we have a solution for you: an mhbo track. Together with De Rooi Pannen, BUas offers a programme that allows you to obtain a secondary vocational education (mbo 4) diploma and a higher professional education (hbo) diploma in your field of interest in five years!
