This is what connection looks like
Over 130 companies, hundreds of conversations and one buzzing campus. The Industry Network Event was a great success.
The professional field came to us
On Thursday 19 March, BUas welcomed over 130 companies from the hospitality, tourism, facility management and creative industries to its campus. Students and staff from Leisure & Events, Tourism, Hotel Management, Facility Management and Creative Business spent the day in conversation with professionals about work placements, graduation projects and career opportunities.
The atmosphere was fantastic throughout the day. Stands were busy from the moment the doors opened, conversations were open and energetic, and the connection between education and the professional field was exactly as it should be. For many students, it was their first real taste of what it means to network with industry, and they rose to the occasion.
More than just networking
What made this edition special was the breadth of it. Five degree programmes under one roof meant that students and professionals could move across domains, have unexpected conversations and discover connections they would not have found elsewhere. A Hotel Management student talking to a tour operator. A creative business professional exchanging ideas with a Leisure & Events lecturer. That kind of cross-domain energy is hard to manufacture, and on 19 March it happened naturally.
Staff and lecturers also played an important role. Seeing colleagues walk the floor, stopping to chat with companies about guest lectures, research collaborations or graduation projects, showed that this event was about the whole BUas community, not just students.
A portrait photography station proved popular with students looking to update their LinkedIn profile, a small but well-received addition to the day.
Huge thanks to everyone involved
This event was the result of a great deal of collaboration across teams, programmes and departments. A well-deserved thank you to the project team, the colleagues who contributed behind the scenes, and the students who helped bring it all together on the day. And of course: sincere thanks to all the companies who took the time to travel to Breda and speak with our students and staff. Without them, there is no event.
