Esports venue The HIVE officially opened
How cool is it that BUas has its own on-campus gaming and esports venue? It is called The HIVE and was officially opened on Friday 21 April by alderman Daan Quaars and Roland Kleve, academy director of Leisure & Events.
The HIVE is open to everyone from Breda who is interested in gaming and esports. Quite a few students and staff of BUas already make use of the venue. But several students from Avans have meanwhile also found their way to The HIVE.
Esports community and education
At the opening, the visitors learned more about the esports ambitions of Breda and BUas. The goal is to create a gaming and esports facility where the community feels welcome to meet and play.
BUas offers a specialisation in Sports & Esports and a fourth-year minor in Esports Event and Media Management.
During the event, visitors had the opportunity to play games against and with each other, beat the pro, watch a showcase game, and learn more about the dynamic world of esports.
The esports industry is a serious worldwide growing business. The HIVE gives the community a chance to learn more about this industry in a professional way, together with national and international partners.
