Lecturer in Media Technology

As a Lecturer in Media Technology (0.2 FTE) at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), you are driven by a strong interest in media technology and its impact on the future of the media industry. About this job

As a Lecturer in Media Technology (0.2 FTE) at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), you will teach within the Master Media Innovation programme, bridging theory with industry practice. This means developing teaching materials that reflect current technological realities, supervising master’s students doing their graduation project, and collaborating with existing module teams to ensure coherent curriculum integration across the programme.

You understand how technology enables and transforms future media experiences. You actively engage with emerging technologies and trends shaping the media landscape. You have understanding of immersive technologies, game engines, AI-driven platforms and understand LLMs. You connect technological innovation with practical application in the industry. You love to translate your knowledge and experiences into education and empower today’s students to become the changemakers of tomorrow’s industry.

What do we offer?

  • The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €4,632.17 and a monthly maximum of €6,677.44 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);  
  • This position is classified in scale 11 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be Lecturer/Researcher;
  • This job involves a temporary position and therefore you will be appointed for one year;
  • Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport; 
  • You will receive a contribution towards your health insurance costs;
  • You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and an annual holiday allowance of 8% in May; 
  • You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost 11 weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position; 
  • You have the option to work partly from home, which can help improve your work-life balance;

What do we ask of you?

  • You have an academic level of professional and intellectual ability and at least a master's degree or PhD relevant to the position;
  • You are passionate about your work and would like to share this passion with our students and others. You have creative and fresh ideas on how to share this information and knowledge; 
  • You have proven experience in MA/PhD-level teaching and supervising students doing their graduation project; 
  • You have previous experience working within the media industry (media technology, R&D, design or communication); 
  • You have knowledge of Media UI/UX or product development, including digital prototyping methods;
  • You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are a necessity.
