Greengage

Greengage develops innovative governance models using citizens science in the development of local climate mitigation and adaptation policies.

BUAS has started the Greengage project: a 3-year long pan-European Innovation Action funded under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. Greengage aims to promote innovative governance and help public authorities in shaping their climate mitigation and adaptation policies by engaging with citizens to co-create green initiatives and to develop Citizen Observatories, focusing on mobility, air quality and healthy living supporting the delivery of carbon neutral neighborhoods. Citizen observatories are formed in five pilot cities and regions (North Brabant (NL); Bristol (UK); Turano & Gerace (Italy); Copenhagen (Denmark) that will use data-gathering and visualising technologies and participatory research methodologies, to facilitate inclusive smart governance.

Through a pilot project focusing on increasing the shift from the car to bike travel in North Brabant, BUas is reinforcing its long-term cooperation with the Province North Brabant and Argaleo. Involving citizen observatories in the analysis of tracked cycling patterns and the procedure of the modal choice, the Province, BUas, and citizens can together identify the requirements for a greener modal shift.
