Starting your own business

Do you dream of having your own business? And maybe you already have a unique business concept? Take up the challenge and start your own business as early as during your studies. We will help you!

At BUas, we value entrepreneurship. Many students decide to go into business during or after their studies. For example, did you know that around 16% of all BUas students have ambitions to start their own business? And that over 280 students currently already have their own business alongside their studies?

Courses and minors in entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is in the DNA of all BUas programmes. You will learn how to become an entrepreneurial professional. BUas Startup Support, for instance, guides you in setting up your own company. There are also special courses in entrepreneurship and in the fourth year you can take a minor in Entrepreneurship, which is open to all BUas students. And if you want, you can graduate with your own business.

BUas Startup Support

You can ask BUas Startup Support to help you if you want to start your own business alongside or after your studies. Do you have a great idea but don't know how to go about it? Or do you already have a business up and running, and you want this business to grow? You can come to BUas Startup Support for every stage of entrepreneurship. We organise fun and educational events on various topics, we have coaches who can guide you, we have access to finance funds and we put you in touch with other entrepreneurial students. We also work closely with regional partners like Bwise, so we can support you in starting or growing your business.

I learned all about finance, marketing and networking

Entrepreneurship was a whole new challenge for me. I joined the BUas Startup Support group, and soon got very involved. I learnt so much there! Finance, marketing, networking. If someone had told me a few years ago that I was so good at networking, I would never have believed that person. I am introverted and don't connect easily. At BUas, I learned how to talk to clients well and how to negotiate. I did the Resilient Entrepreneurship minor and the Own Company track, and I loved both!

You also meet other student entrepreneurs

What was most valuable for me in starting my own business was the advice of my coach, to whom I could go with any problem I had. I also worked together with other BUSS startups, for instance for marketing advice. In addition, I really enjoyed the events where I could meet other BUas student entrepreneurs and exchange experiences. And last but not least, getting the government grant was a huge advantage!

I needed professional guidance

I came to BUas Startup Support because I didn't know how to start my own business, especially in a foreign country. I was doing everything more or less instinctively and I felt I needed professional guidance. And as a student, I was looking for free advice. From the first meeting, I knew it would help me tremendously and broaden my horizons.
