Perry Hobson stepping down as Director of BUas Academy for Tourism

After four years as Director of the BUas Academy of Tourism, Perry Hobson is returning to Australia. He has been appointed to take up a newly established professorship position at the Business School of Bond University on the Gold Coast. Bond University is Australia's most established private not-for-profit university, focusing on small class sizes and personalised learning similar to BUas.

Perry joined BUas as Director of the Academy for Tourism in January 2022, bringing extensive international experience from previous roles at Sunway University (Malaysia), Taylor's University, and as former CEO of the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE).

Jorrit Snijder, President of the BUas Executive Board: 'Perry has brought a valuable international perspective to our Academy for Tourism and BUas as a whole. His contributions to our Community for Teaching & Learning have been important for BUas' development, particularly in embracing new approaches such as challenge-based learning. We wish him great success at Bond University and look forward to staying in touch.'

Perry commented: 'I'm very excited to be taking up my new role as professor of Hotel & Tourism partnerships, focused on developing strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industry members and professional networks. I look back very positively on my time at BUas and the fantastic Management Team I have had the pleasure of working with.'

Perry will be leaving BUas at the end of 2025.
