BUas 60 years

What began 60 years ago with a public lecture on leisure in North Brabant – in a café on the Grote Markt in Breda – has through the years grown into what BUas is today: an international university of applied sciences that prepares students for a constantly changing world.

Pioneering Beyond Borders

The pioneers in the era of the Nederlands Wetenschappelijk Instituut voor Toerisme (NWIT), founded in 1966, and the Verkeersakademie Tilburg (VAT), founded in 1972, already believed that education could be a driving force for exploring the world. It’s not just about knowledge; it’s about nurturing students who think beyond the familiar.

NWIT and VAT continued their journey through time together, first as NHTV and later as Breda University of Applied Sciences, BUas. For 60 years, we have been Pioneering Beyond Borders.

We equip our students with knowledge, but above all with ‘BUas Skills for Life’ – skills they can put to use in a constantly changing world to make it a little better. And as far as we’re concerned, we’ll be doing this for at least another 60 years: adapting, innovating and adding value through our teaching and research. For our students, and thereby for the business community and society.
