AI in operations

Responsible AI innovation. By and for our community

Responsible innovation is central to everything we do. A carefully developed legal and ethical framework for data governance ensures that AI is applied with accountability and transparency.

Alongside this infrastructure, colleagues across BUas are building and using AI tools that make real differences to day-to-day work, from student services and HR to procurement and the classroom.

AI initiatives in practice

Initiatives in practice

The initiatives below show how colleagues are applying AI in operations, each developed in-house, grounded in a real need, and designed to keep people at the centre.

Virtual Study Choice Buddy

We are developing a conversational tool that helps prospective students navigate information about studying at BUas. Rather than searching through web pages, students will be able to ask questions in their own words and get relevant answers instantly. The tool is being built in close collaboration with a student developer, bringing a genuine student perspective to the design process.

Invoice Formatter for Tenders

The Procurement team is developing a tool to help staff format tender invoices correctly and consistently. By combining AI assistance with BUas's own templates and requirements, the aim is to reduce manual effort and minimise errors in an otherwise time-consuming
administrative process.

Translation Tool

We have been developing a bilingual Dutch–English translation tool tailored to BUas's institutional language and communications style. The goal is to make it easier for staff to produce accurate, professional content in both languages without relying on generic translation software.
