Ivo Steffens joins the BUas Supervisory Board
We are delighted to announce that Mr I.J. (Ivo) Steffens has joined the Supervisory Board of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) as from January 2026.
- About BUas
Ivo (1982), residing in Bussum, combines an executive career with experience as a supervisor. He is Managing Director of the Vermaat groep, market leader in high-end hospitality services. Until recently, he was Director of Commerce & IT at NS (Dutch Railways), where he was in charge of strategy, customer experience, innovation, and digital transformation. Prior to that, he was Commercial Director at Air France-KLM UK&Ireland.
Ivo studied Hotel Management (Maastricht) and International Business (Maastricht University), and attended the New Board Programme at Nyenrode Business University. He also held supervisory positions, including at Hely and Vaigo. He is a guest speaker of Strategic Leadership at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His areas of expertise include governance, customer strategy, digital transformation, and stakeholder management.

He brings valuable experience from the business world in the field of digital transformation and commercial strategy, combined with a strong affinity for education. Other than Ivo Steffens, the BUas Supervisory Board consists of: chair Mr Erwin van Lambaart (CEO/ General Director, Casino Austria AG), Mr Vincent van Stijn RA MGA (supervisor/director of various organisations), Ms Yvonne van Mierlo (director, BrabantWonen) and Ms Liesbet van Zoonen (professor, Erasmus University Rotterdam).
