Ethical dilemmas in the creative, cultural and service industries. Not only a symposium, but also a book title. The symposium on 9 December is, on the one hand, to celebrate the publication of the book and, on the other hand, to mark the farewell of Johan Bouwer. He is professor of ethics in business and profession at BUas and will take up an early retirement as from 1 March 2020.
The above-mentioned book, edited by Johan Bouwer, is the result of a cross-academy initiative which was meant to complement the BUas strategic project on the inclusion of (facets of business) ethics in all our study programmes. In total, 25 lecturers of all academies contributed to this publication.
We are happy to announce that Dr Derek Casey will deliver the keynote speech during the symposium. He is Chair Emeritus of the World Leisure Organization, which advises the United Nations in areas such as sport, recreation, leisure, tourism and related issues. He will reflect on the personal challenges, successes and failures he met in his long and rich career.
After his inspiring keynote the book launch will take place. Four contributors to the book will give brief presentations on:
- the outline of the book itself (by Dr Johan Bouwer)
- the building blocks of the theory underlying the book (Dr Marco van Leeuwen)
- sustainability thinking and business (by Dr Frans Melissen)
- intellectual property and individual privacy (Hayleigh Bosher)
Five copies of the book, based on a draw, will be given away to five students, one from each academy, who have registered for this symposium.
Join this lecture on 9 December from 16:00 to 19:15 hours in the Chapel, Horizon Building, Mgr. Hopmansstraat 2 in Breda with a reception afterwards. Please register here.
