Studying in the Netherlands

Please check carefully which steps you need to take in order to arrange a visa for the Netherlands. In the visa application wizard all matters are explained. Buas cannot apply for your visa, you should arrange this yourself.

Apart from your travel insurance, you will need to check what additional insurance coverage is required (if any) before coming to the Netherlands.

The voltage in the Netherlands is 220. You may need a voltage converter and/or a plug adapter. We recommend getting a universal adapter and converter kit.

The Netherlands is a very international oriented country. Almost everybody speaks English, so you do not need to speak Dutch. All programmes are taught in English. Still, it is always nice to learn up a few words of Dutch, don’t you think?

The summer in the Netherlands can have quite changing weather. We can have very warm and sunny days with high temperatures (30° C) or rainy weather with grey skies. It is therefore advised to bring some clothes for warm weather but also a warm jacket/sweater. An umbrella may be useful but can of course also be purchased here.
