Study overview

Curriculum

This is a 5-day course:

  • Research day 1: literature review, critical writing and Imagineering essay
  • Research day 2: imagineering research and research paradigms
  • Research day 3: imagineering research proposal
  • Research day 4: thematic analysis and laddering
  • Research day 5: final written deliverables

In addition, you need to submit two assignments related to this course. The first one is an Imagineering essay, the second one is a research proposal.

Study load & coaching

For this microcredential, there are five lecture days in class, usually from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs. The total study load is five ECTS credits. With one ECTS credit being equivalent to 28 hours of study, this means that the programme has a study load of approximately nine hours per week.

You will have a coach assigned individually to you from day one who will guide and support you in the assignments and the research process.

The learning model within this course is very collaboratively centred. This means that the coach-student relationship is not the classical one in which the supervisor is the expert who knows and delivers the knowledge and the student is the passive recipient of the knowledge. You as the student are expected to take an active role and co-create together with the research coach the path to be taken, engaging in your own learning process and becoming the protagonist of your own work.

The research coach should relate to the students in the same positive and engaging way that the students are learning within the course, also helping them develop their competencies. The research coach will be advising you regarding the development of your research, and advising you on how to write the final written deliverables. The coach is entitled to provide deadlines to you in order to present advancements discussed throughout the coaching sessions you will be having.

An important aspect of the coaching role is helping students to embrace and activate their learning and ensuring that they are able to complete the course. Another aspect is to act as a sparring partner in making choices regarding the conduction of the research.

Study method

There are interactive lectures, workshops, online materials, readings, creative and co-creative sessions, and discussions. In other words, a blended model of studying and interaction.
