Breda University of Applied Sciences and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) are supporting underrepresented groups in the games industry to undertake higher education through SIE-funded undergraduate game development scholarships at the BUas Academy for Games and Media.
With this Sony Scholarship program BUas will support 5 students, from 2022 to 2027, who want to attend and are qualified to attend the BUas Bachelor programme for Games in either the Visual Art, Game Design & Production, or Game Programming study paths.
These students will prosper well in the small-scale intensive learning environment BUas offers with project-based education and learning communities in conjunction with the industry. They will also benefit from the vivid community, in an attractive green campus environment, with access to BUas community activities such as the ‘Game Jam Club’, ‘Neurodiversity’, or the ‘LGBTQ+ Club’.
What does the Sony Scholarship entail?
The students who will be granted the scholarship will receive financial support to cover the tuition fees and living expenses for four study years, for a total amount of € 40,000.
BUas and Sony engaged in diversity & inclusion
BUas, and specifically the Academy for Games & Media, already has a quite diverse and international population of students and staff. This programme demonstrates BUas’ as well as Sony Interactive Entertainment’s commitment to Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion. BUas is happy and proud to support students from under-privileged backgrounds as well and is committed to providing opportunities, so everyone can reach their true potential. We encourage young people from under-represented backgrounds to apply for this Sony Scholarship and the BUas bachelor’s programme in Games.
