Supervisory Board stakeholders meeting

On Monday 30 January the BUas Supervisory Board stakeholders meeting took place in Zeist. No less than 23 captains of industry from various sectors had gathered for a session with the Supervisory Board, the Executive Board and BUas directors to discuss the future of higher education in relation to labour market developments.

President of the Executive Board Dr Jorrit Snijder gave attendees an insight into the strategic ambitions, personalisation of education and research & innovation projects at BUas, 'the best kept secret of Breda'. Jacques van den Broek, former CEO of Randstad, gave a detailed insight into labour market bottlenecks and their effects in the short and long term. He made a passionate plea for targeted action from both employers and employees and the absolute necessity of attracting international students and retaining them for Dutch industry. The participants then engaged in animated discussions about, lifelong learning, better anticipating the wishes and demands of new generations of employees, the need to learn skills versus knowledge, and practice-oriented research for innovation and internationalisation. The meeting was highly appreciated by the participants. Many will also participate in the BUas industry day on 29 June next. For BUas this stakeholders meeting is very important to support our mission and to anticipate the demands of industry and society partners.
